Quick Answer

Private chef pricing in Puerto Vallarta depends on your group size, the menu you choose, and the services you add. Pricing is structured to be simple and transparent — one clear amount for a single service, or a flexible arrangement for longer stays. Most groups find that a private chef dinner at their villa is very comparable in cost to a great restaurant — with a level of comfort and personalization that no restaurant can offer.

Why People Ask This Question

Hiring a private chef is not something most people do every week. So when the idea comes up — usually somewhere between booking the villa and planning what to do each night — the first question is a natural one: how much does this actually cost?

The honest answer is: it depends. But "it depends" isn't very useful on its own, so let me break down exactly what shapes the price.

The Two Main Costs to Understand

When you hire a private chef for a villa experience in Puerto Vallarta, pricing is structured to make things as simple as possible for your group.

For a single service — one dinner, one brunch, one event — the quote covers everything in one amount: chef fee and groceries together. You receive one clear number, nothing to track separately.

For groups booking three or more services during their stay, groceries are handled as a separate reimbursement based on the real receipt delivered on the day of each service. This structure gives you full transparency across a longer stay and tends to be the most straightforward arrangement for multi-day bookings.

Either way, your quote will always make clear exactly what's included and how the numbers are organized before you confirm anything.

What Affects the Price

Number of guests Some costs stay fixed regardless of group size — preparation time, travel, kitchen setup. Others scale with the number of people. For smaller groups, the per-person cost can be slightly higher, which is normal across the industry.

The menu you choose A four-course dinner featuring a premium main — like fresh lobster from the bay or a slow-braised short rib — will cost more than a simpler menu. My menus draw from authentic regional Mexican cuisine, and you can browse them to find what feels right for your group and your evening.

Bar service Margaritas and mezcalitas are available as an add-on to any dinner service — unlimited during the full length of the meal, so your group can enjoy the evening without watching the clock. For groups looking for something beyond dinner — a longer open bar, a specific selection of spirits, a dedicated bartender for an event — I can put together a separate bar proposal based on duration, guest count, and spirit preferences.

Wine I offer a wine pairing selected specifically for your menu, featuring Mexican wines chosen to complement each course. If you prefer to bring or source your own wine, that works perfectly as well — just let me know in advance.

Location and logistics I serve Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Sayulita, Bucerías, and the Riviera Nayarit. A couple of things worth knowing: some properties charge a kitchen-use or event fee on their end — check with your villa or concierge, as that's separate from the chef service. If your location falls outside my regular service area, a small travel fee may apply. Either way, it will always be reflected clearly in your quote.

How Payment Works

To secure your date, I'll send a PayPal link for a 30% deposit. That confirms your reservation and locks in everything we've discussed.

The remaining 70% is collected after the service, preferably in cash. For multi-service bookings, grocery reimbursement is also settled in cash on the day of each service, based on the receipt I bring with me.

Simple, transparent, no surprises.

Is It Worth It?

A dinner at a top restaurant in Puerto Vallarta for a group of eight — food, drinks, tips — can easily reach the same price range as a private chef experience. The difference is everything around the meal.

With a private chef, your villa is the restaurant. The menu is yours. The pace of the evening is yours. And someone else handles every dish, every course, and every corner of the kitchen before they leave.

For groups celebrating something special, or families who want a real meal without the logistics of going out, that difference is usually the point.

How to Get Your Quote

Reach out with a few details and I'll take it from there:

  • Date and location

  • Number of guests

  • Type of service — dinner, brunch, cooking class, taco bar

  • Allergies or dietary restrictions

  • Whether you'd like bar service or wine pairing

A Note on Flexibility

If the first proposal doesn't fit your budget, I'm always happy to adjust — a different menu, fewer courses, or a delivery option instead of on-site cooking. The goal is for your group to eat well and enjoy every day of your vacation. Let's find the right fit together.
