Quick Answer
A private chef in Puerto Vallarta comes to your villa, plans the menu around your group, shops for fresh local ingredients, cooks on site, serves your meal, and cleans up before leaving. You enjoy a full restaurant-quality experience without leaving your vacation home.
The Question We Hear Most
When people reach out for the first time, they often say something like: "I've never hired a private chef before. How does this work exactly?"
It's a fair question. The idea of having a chef cook for you in your villa sounds wonderful, but the details can feel unclear if you've never done it. So let me walk you through it — the way I'd explain it to a friend.
How It Starts: The Inquiry
Everything begins with a message. You can reach out through the website, by email, or directly on WhatsApp. From there, I'll ask a few basic things:
What date are you thinking?
How many guests will be in the group?
Where are you staying — which villa, condo, or area?
What time would you like to eat?
Any food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Are you interested in bar service — margaritas, mezcalitas, or wine?
Those details help me put together the right proposal for your group. Nothing is complicated at this stage. I just need enough information to make sure the experience fits exactly what you're looking for.
The Menu Selection
Once we're in touch, I'll share my dinner menus so you can browse and choose. My menus are rooted in authentic Mexican cuisine — flavors I grew up with, dishes that tell a story, ingredients sourced fresh and local.
Most groups select one menu for everyone, which keeps the dinner service flowing beautifully. If someone in the group has an allergy or a dietary restriction — vegan, pescatarian, no shellfish, no tree nuts — I work around that for the affected guest without disrupting the full experience for everyone else.
The goal is always that every person at the table feels taken care of.
The Day of Service
On the day of your dinner, my team and I typically arrive about one hour before the meal is set to begin. That gives us time to set up, organize the kitchen, and start the preparation without any rush.
We bring everything we need. We cook on site, in your villa kitchen, using the groceries we've sourced for your menu. You don't need to do anything except relax.
During the meal, we serve each course at the right pace. If you've added bar service, your drinks are flowing from the start — margaritas or mezcalitas made with care, not shortcuts.
When dinner is over, we clean the kitchen and leave everything the way we found it. You get to stay at the table, keep the conversation going, and not think about a single dish.
What's Usually Included
Here's a general picture of what a private chef dinner with me covers:
Menu planning and consultation before the event
Shopping for fresh, quality ingredients
On-site cooking and full meal preparation
Service of each course
Kitchen clean-up after the meal
If you'd like to add bar service (margaritas, mezcalitas, or wine), that's something we discuss and include in the proposal when requested.
What Makes It Different from a Restaurant
When you dine at a restaurant, you're one table among many. The kitchen is under pressure, the timing is managed for the whole room, and the experience — no matter how good — is shared with strangers.
A private chef dinner is yours entirely.
The menu is chosen for your group. The timing works around your evening. The conversation never has to stop because a waiter needs the table. And the setting — your villa terrace, your dining room, your view of the ocean or the garden — belongs to you.
I've been cooking for guests in Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Sayulita, Bucerías, and the Riviera Nayarit since 2005. What I've seen again and again is that the meals people remember most from their vacations aren't the ones at the nicest restaurant in town. They're the ones that felt personal.
Who This Is For
Private chef service works beautifully for:
Families who want a relaxed, flexible meal without restaurant logistics
Groups celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or bachelorette weekends
Couples looking for a romantic dinner without leaving the villa
Wedding weekends where every meal matters
Anyone who simply wants to eat well and not worry about cooking
